2024 Growing in Unity - Day 5

Happy Friday,

We have made it through another week.   I hope you have some great weekend plans

For my last project I went with one of my favorite images.

The image comes from the True Colors kit.

This paint brush image is the reason I added this kit to my collection.

I colored the image with Alcohol markers.

Added some Nuvo drops to the flowers.

The sentiment was stamped in red and embossed.

The sentiment comes from the Happiness is set

That is a wrap.

Hope you enjoyed my projects and found some inspiration

Thank you for all the wonderful comments.

Please leave a comment every day and the end of the week I will choose a couple of lucky winners to receive a $20 credit to the Unity website.

2024 Growing in Unity - Day 4

Good morning my crafty friends.

I hope you have been having a wonderful week.

My time with  the Unity Stamp Company is almost over.

Do you have favorite color?

If you know me, mine is purple.... purple everything.

With that being said, I could not go a week without using purple in my project.

I just love this paper, especially the floral piece.  I actually did not want to cut it at all.

But paper must be used, so, I wanted to make the paper be the star of my card.

Unity has so many wonderful sentiments.

The sentiment is from the Moments in Bloom set

This is a great set if you are do not like to color images.

For the sentiment I embossed it using purple embossing powder.

And then used some die cuts for the shapes.

Very quick and easy.

2024 Growing in Unity - Day 3

Happy Wednesday.

Hope you are having a great week.

For my project today I have two card layouts using the same image.

I could not decide which one to share.

When stamping I usually stamp more than one image,

This way I have so I have multiples to color.

I can either use them for the future or have a throw away one for those coloring errors.

The owl image comes from the True Colors kit.

This kit is my favorite of all of the kits in my stash.

I colored the image using alcohol markers.

I then added some dimension to the flowers using Nuvo drops.

It is hard to see but both the green and brown papers are embossed with leaves.

And the Shine sentiment is a rub on.  Remember those.  I found a few in my stash.

The Hello Beautiful sentiment is from the Gather Love Kit

2024 Growing in Unity - Day 2

Hello there my crafty friends.  Its day two for my week with Unity.

For my project today I took some inspiration from a project that I saw on Pinterest.

I love the effect of the watercolor background with a simple back image

For my card I used my color burst powder.

I still have not mastered using color burst.  I feel like I usually make more of a mess.

I made a whole bunch of little squares of many different colors.

I then settled on the green/yellow groups.

I then stamped and embossed the images onto those squares.   In the future I think I would stamp the images and then cut or punch out the squares.

I went with the tall card layout.  My card is 8-1/2" x 3-3/8" to fit the envelopes I have.

The images I chose came from 3 different sets.   Within BeautyWhole Wonderful World

and Feel the Joy.

That is my project for today.

Remember there is a giveaway.

Please leave a comment every day and the end of the week I will choose a couple of lucky winners to receive a $20 credit to the Unity website.

2024 Growing in Unity - Day One

Happy Monday my crafty friends.

I am excited to be the GIU gal this week.

I've been very busy with daily life activities and have not been able to spend a lot of time crafting.  It was very nice to be able to dust off the supplies and create some projects to share with you.

For today's project I chose to use an image from the Open Sky, Deep Ocean KOM.
This is such a lovely set.
The flower is nice and large.  It is perfect for a 5" x 7" Card layout.

I colored the image using alcohol markers and chose to add a little sparkle.
I used some chucky black glitter for the flower's center.

I found some fun paper in my stash to add some color to the background. The sentiment is one that was included in a grab bag I purchased from Unity.  I'm not sure which set it is from.

Be sure to head over to the Unity Stamp Company and see what other
fabulous images they have to offer.

Now for the fun stuff.

 There is a giveaway.

Please leave a comment every day and the end of the week I will choose a couple of lucky winners to receive a $20 credit to the Unity website.

And if Blogger is being a booger.
Leave your name in the comment so I can include you in the drawing.

Thanks for stopping by.

2023 Growing in Unity Day 5

Happy Firday!!! We made it through the week.  I hope you have some fun weekend plans.

Today is my last day of my Growing in Unity post for 2023.   I am super honored to be a part of this group of lovely creative people.

Thank you for all of the lovely comments.

For my final post I am using the Turn Toward the Light set.  Why.... it's a flower of course and I love coloring sunflowers.

For this card I went with the slim line design.  It is about 8.5" x 3.5".  I learned log ago not to make a card size until you have an envelope to fit.  Luckily I picked up some slim line envelopes on sale recently.

For the coloring I chose to play with my watercolor pens with some more traditional color.  I left some splatters behind.  Though the splatter technique is something I need some practice with.  These turned out rather light.

The word "Explore" is actually part of this pattern paper.  It is not a stamped image.

I hope you found something inspiring this week.

I will wait until Monday to pick my winners so you have time to comment all weekend.

Here is a recap of  this weeks projects and links if you need to catch up

Have a wonderful weekend

2023 Growing in Unity Day 4

Hello there!!

I hope you are ending the week strong.

Today I am using stamps from the Slowly Turning Classic set.

I was drawn to this set because it reminds me of my dad.  He loved his trucks and anything old-antique and classic.   I could see him driving this truck with a smile on his face and he would have it painted cherry red.  So... for today's project the truck is red.  LOL

Sometimes I find it hard to find images for masculine cards.  This set is perfect for a masculine project and Unity has a good selection of images for your favorite guys.

This time I went ahead with placing the sentiment.  It is great combo.  I worked out of my comfort zone a bit and combined a few different patters.

I also stamped this image on a gift bag.  I found that the best way to get a good image on an uneven surface is using a stamp press.  This way you can ink and stamp multiple times

Now it is time to start the day and head off to my real job.   Don't forget to leave a comment on each of my post this week to win credit to the Unity Stamp store.  And remember to leave your name if blogger is being a pill and making you Anonymous.

If you missed the past days I have put the links below

Have a great day!

2023 Growing in Unity Day 3

Happy Wednesday!

This week is flying right on by.

For my project today I chose the Angiegirl images from the Sunshine Girl set.  I really love these ladies and all the different themes.   And if you know me, I am always attracted to flowers and this image is perfect for my flower addition.  LOL

I would call this a starter card.   I'm leaving the corner blank so that I can add a sentiment at a later time.   In the past I found that I have made too many cards for one occasion and then I don't have a card ready for some other event.  Leaving the sentiment out allows me to quickly convert the card into something needed.   I may even add some embellishments.  If I'm going to mail it those embellishments will not be bulky.

I was inspired to color the sunflowers in the dark red-orange color from sunflowers I planted in my garden last year.

Remember to leave a comment to have a chance to win store credit to the Unity Stamp Store.   I also noticed that blogger is being a pickle, so if it says you are Anonymous just be sure to leave you name in the comments.

If you missed the past days I have put the links below

Hope you have a wonderful day.   The sun will be out today and for us in California we will be welcoming the opportunity to dry out a little before the next storm rolls in to town.

2023 Growing in Unity Day 2

Good morning!!!

Today is my day two with Unity Stamps for my Growing in Unity week.

Take a moment to check out the Unity Store.  I'm sure you will find something you can't live without.

Today I chose to use the Cuddlebug Giraffe Mini.  This is such a sweet little set.  I was drawn to the set because giraffe's was the them of my son's bedroom as a baby.  When he was about 5 we merged the giraffes into a safari theme.   When he was little it was so hard to find giraffe items and I still find myself being drawn into the images.

I wanted to go pink with this image.  We now have a new Great Niece and I was thinking that this could be a good 1st birthday card... or even make it a new baby shower card.   That is why I did not use a sentiment.

As you can see I used those scalloped circles again but this time I ran them through the embosser to give them some texture.  I love how they mimic the flowers but help soften the vibrant background pattern.  I did use pop foam to pop raise the image off the back ground as the embossed circles are bulky.

I hope you enjoyed today's project.  And if you missed yesterday's project here is a link to Day 1.

Be sure you leave a comment each day.  I will be picking 2 winners at the end of my week to win $20 credit to the Unity store.

Have a wonderful day

Teresa

2023 Growing in Unity Day 1

Good morning and happy Monday,

I am very excited to be the featured GIU Gal this week and share my projects with you.

The last couple of years have been super crazy and I have not had much time and energy to papercraft so I am feeling a little rusty.

For my project today I chose to use stamps from the Simple Wisdom set designed by Graciellie Designs,  It is such a beautiful set of flowers and I love the sentiments

For this card I decided to try a new technique and create a distress design and simply stamp and black image floating outside the color.   I've seen this done before but I never really gave it a try.

The color block was created by die cutting the scalloped circle and then using the circle as my mask.  It took me a couple attempts to find a size and location for the image before I landed on this one.  I really like the sentiment as it goes with the idea of being outside the circle or box.  I also embossed the image and sentiment to help add some dimension to the layout.

I chose the simple black and white pattern to help pull the black image forward,

I hope you enjoy today's project and come back tomorrow.

Make sure to leave a comment everyday this week as I will be choosing 2 lucky people to win a prize from Unity.

Thanks for stopping by

Sunday, March 21, 2021

Good Morning!!

Happy Sunday.  I hope you are enjoying your weekend

Today I'm part of the Growing In Unity Blog Hop.

For my project I chose to use my brand new kit

  Gather Love.

I picked this kit because I just love that rabbit.  It is super cute.

I've been playing with image and my distress oxides all week.

For this card I created the background using my distress oxides.

I chose a stencil to add some interest to the background

Stamped and embossed the image and sentiment.

Rounded the edges with corner punches.

I could not find a perfect paper to frame the image so I used some
gold embossing powder to create the gold frame.

Some of the other projects I've been working
on using this rabbit image

Here is the line up for today's hop

Growing in Unity - Day 5

Happy Friday!!!

The weekend is upon us and I hope you have some fun plans.

Today is my final day with the Unity Stamp Company.

I hope you have enjoyed all of the my projects this week.

For my final project I used images from the Handmade Valentines set.

This is been my most used stamp set from Unity.

For this card I stamped and embossed the background in gold.  Using blending brushes I blended distress inks to create the background color I was looking for.

I then stamped the heart and embossed it with aged gold embossing enamel. The enamel embossing gives the wax stamp effect.

I filled in the negative area of the heart with red glitter.

The white background paper is an embossed textured textile paper.

I love the old world feel that all of the combined elements.

By not adding a sentiment I can use this as a  Valentines day or a wedding card.

I want to send a big thank you to all of you who have left sweet and inspiring comments on my blog.

If you missed any of the previous day projects I posted links below.

Growing in Unity - Day 4

Good morning everyone.

This week is flying by.  I can't believe it is Thursday already.

Only a couple more post left for my week with Unity.

Today I am going to continue with the Valentine theme.

I chose this fun stamp from the set

  A Summer Story

For this card I decided to layer the cute little cup so that the image pops off the card and gives a lot of dimension.

I stamped 4 images.  One on the card, two for the cup and one for the lid.

I colored using each layer just so that if any layer was exposed you it would see color.

I then fussy cut the cup out on two of the images and fussy cut the lid out of one of the images.  I did cut the straw off the lid so that it would appear to be behind the lid.

Then I glued all of the layers together.

I then added a little glitter to the whipped cream,

The "Be my Valentine" sentiment is from the Unity set  Handmade Valentines.

If you missed any of the previous day projects I posted links below.

At the end of the week I will pull 2 lucky names to win a $20 credit to the Unity website.
