12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist 2013

As I was web surfing I came across Ellen Hutson's site were different designers are showcasing  their tags for the  12 tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist.

You have got to check this out.  There are some wonderful techniques.

The tag below was created by Ronda Palazzari.  I was inspired by all the layers of color.  So I chose Ronda's tag for my inspiration.

This is Ronda's tag

Ronda Palazzari Joyeux Noel Tag

I broke out my new bottles of Silks Acrylic Glaze, Gelatos, and modeling paste and went to work.

I wish I had a cute little bird like Ronda, but no luck.  So instead I used my Fiskars punch and made my own.

Here is mine

PYC Challenge #10 - Christmas

Happy Holiday's everyone!!!

Today marks the beginning of a new challenge at the Parade Your Crafts Blog.

Challenge #10 is Christmas.

My projects for the challenge is set of tags.

I went with the non-traditional colors after seeing my paper pack from the Paper Parade

I received Echo Park's Happy Holiday's collection + Sticker sheet + a sheet of Pink glitter Paper.

I used the stickers from the sheet to make the focal point of all of the tags.
I removed the sticky back by using a little corn starch.  You could use baby powder too.
Then I used the pop dots on the stickers to give each tag some dimension.

I wanted my tags to also be the note card for my packages.
Each tag is folded just like you would a card so that you can put a message inside.

The strip of paper I started with is 2-1/2" x 9.

Now it is your turn to show us what your new Christmas creations.
he Challenge will be running for two weeks.

Growing In Unity - Day 5

Wow!!  It's Friday already.  This week has flown right by.

I am so ready for the weekend.

Before we get to today's project I need to get on my soap box....LOL

First, I want to send a big THANK YOU to everyone who has stopped by my blog this week.

I appreciate all of the kind and uplifting comments that have been left for my projects.

If you have not already, please become a follower to my blog.

I also want to thank Unity Stamp Company for allowing me to participate in the Growing In Unity.

Let's finish the week with some more Christmas projects.

I made this lot of tag using the Unity image Most Wonderful Time.

I cut the tags from Kraft card stock.
Stamped the image and sentient with black dye based ink.
Then tied the ribbon off with some twine.  Super quick and easy.

I loved how ribbon went together with the Kraft paper.

I also made a matching card, but colored the image.

This ends my exciting week as the GIU girl.   Thanks so much for joining me.

Unity has been very generous and has allowed me to give one lucky reader

an Itty Bitty Stamp of their choice.

I will be randomly choosing from all the comments and the winner will be picked Sunday.

You still have time to comment on the previous days blogs.

Growing In Unity - Day 4

Since Christmas is around the corner I thought I would share some of my Christmas projects.   Today's Unity image is ROLY POLY Winter Joy.

I again decided to play with my Gelatos.  I first stamped the image on a white piece of card stock.  I then  stamped the sentiment and snowflakes with embossing ink and heat embossed them with clear embossing powder.    The Gelatos were blended over the embossed parts and around the snowman using my warm finger. I used a baby wipe to clean the Gelatos off the embossing.  Then I colored the image using my markers.  I added a second layer of the image with pop dots to give the card some dimension.

And with my scrap paper I made a few tags.  You never can have enough tags this time of the year.

Remember come back daily and comment all week.

Growing In Unity - Day 3

Oh my.... It is Wednesday already.  This week is just flying by.

For my project today I am using some more of my new coloring tools.....
 Gelatos from Faber-Castell.
I recently took a mixed media class where the focus was on the Gelatos.
Needless to say I came home with a full set.... I am now addicted.

There are so many ways to blend the colors together.
For my projects I used used my warm finger to blend the colors
and then did a final rub with a baby wipe.   Each card turned out just a little different.
I stamped and heat embossed the image.  The total size of these card are 3"x 3".

This image was one of my very first Unity stamps.  It is called - Enjoy this day.
I love the silhouette bike and how it looks with the background.

What I did learn from this project is that the Gelatos leave a little bit of waxy residue,
so when I stamped the image it was not very dark.
To fix the problem I used black embossing powder to make the image more bold.

Here is a clear photo of all 4 cards.  You can see how each card is jut a little different.

Remember come back daily and comment all week.

Growing In Unity - Day 2

It's Day two of GIU!!

For today's project I choose to use a stamp from the Phyllis Harris collection at Unity.  This set is "I will give you my heart".   This little girl is so sweet.

While everyone it thinking about Christmas this time of the year I start planning for Valentines day.  I participate in a card drive for the children s hospitals around the US.  So anytime I get the chance to make a Valentines themed card is one more for the card drive.

I colored the image using my alcohol markers.  The corners are punched out using one of my many Fiskars corner punches.

All the cards that go to the card drive have to be safe for children.  So that means one must be very creative with a flat card.

That is all for today.  Remember come back daily and comment all week.  Unity has been very generous and has allowed me to give one lucky reader an Itty Bitty Stamp of their choice.  I will be randomly choosing from all the comments and the winner will be picked Sunday.

For my card I choose to use the CC Tuesday Premiere stamp.  Isn't she adorable?

I wanted to make my card festive for the holiday's.
I used some red glitter in her hair bow and some flocking for her boa.
The flowers I made using my Fiskars punches and layered them together.

Please don't forget to take a moment to visit the other blogs in today's hop.

Growing In Unity - Day 1

Happy Monday!!!  Hope everyone had a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving weekend.

Today starts my week long adventure being a Growing In Unity (GIU) girl.  I am super excited to be sharing some of my projects.

My first project for this week was my own adventure.  Recently I purchased some Silks Acrylic Glaze. I spent a lot of time with the demonstrator at the Scrapbook Expo playing with these paints and was very inspired.  Then I brought some home and looked at them for a few weeks, not really knowing what to do.  Those demonstrators make everything look so easy and by the time you get home with the products I loose some of my inspiration.  So for today's project I decided to open the jars and take the Silks out for a spin.

First I painted different colors onto a piece of book paper, layering to blend some of the colors.  The paper sure feels like silk after the glaze dries.  I then stamped the Hot Air Balloon image from the Adventurous Stamps set  from Unity.  I embossed the image with black embossing powder .  I then used my sparkling H2O's to color the flowers and balloon.

I think it turned out great for my first attempt.  And of course I did learn some things as well.

Please be sure that you come back daily and comment all week.  Unity has been very generous and has allowed me to give one lucky reader an Itty Bitty Stamp of their choice.  I will be randomly choosing from all the comments and the winner will be picked Sunday.

PYC Challenge #8 - Grateful

Happy November!!!!

The days are just wizzing by.  Before we know it Thanksgiving will have come and gone.  I don't know how it is for you, but for me the last few moths of the year go screaming by.

I hope everyone had a save Halloween.  We were invaded by a zombie.  My son had so much fun acting out the whole zombie thing.  I am glad he enjoyed himself so much.

Today we start the Challenge #8 at The Parade Your Crafts Blog.
The theme is - Grateful

The collection I am using is Thankful from Authentique.
You can find all you paper needs at The Paper Parade

For this challenge I wanted to do something totally different. I spent a good amount of time scouring Pinterest for inspiration with now luck.  But I did learn how to make the rolled paper flowers.

Last weekend I attended the Scrapbook Expo.  I was on a mission for supplies I can not get at our big box craft stores.  As I was spying in on a make and take, I discovered these cool little tins.  They came in two sizes, 2 and 3 inch diameter.  The tins are like a bottle top or pastry baking tin.

Bingo.... I found the inspiration.  Especially the Thankful collection remind me of classic kitchen decor.

I carefully folded a strip a paper to make the ruffle around the outside edge of the tin.
I glued it down using Beacon 3-1 adhesive.  I made a few of the rolled flower,s two out of plain card stock and one from the Authinque collection.  Added a pearl bead to the inside and some glitter around the edges.  The sentimet if from the sticker pack from the Thankful collection.

I was thinking that I could use some magnets and display this on the fridge or even use it in my office.

And not to forget the scraps....

Now it is your turn.

PYC Challenge #6 - Halloween

Can you believe it.... Halloween is only a few weeks away.  I went into Michael's today and they had already started clearance out all of the Halloween and Fall items.  Wow!!

I am just now feeling in the mood for Halloween to be here.  For the last couple of weeks I have been working on Halloween cards for my Mother-in-Law to send out to her grandchildren.

Today we start the Challenge #6 at The Parade Your Crafts Blog.
The theme is of course..... Halloween

When Lisa sent me my kit for this challenge I could not wait to use it.

The collection I received is from Graphic 45 - Steam-punk Spells.
You can pick up a piece of this awesome collection at The Paper Parade

Also included in my kit was some of the new Tim Holtz glitter.  My color to is Black Soot.
Oh how I loved to use this glitter.

This collection is beautiful and fun.  I loved the different colors of the paper.   Below are just a few of the cards I created from this set.  I have at least two additional cards ready to build.

These first three cards I used the graphics that was included in the kit.
I punched the cat and bat out of black card stock using my Fiskars seasonal punches and then covered the punched out image in glitter using the Glossy Accents.
The flower I made using some AC card stock and my Tim Holtz Tattered Flowers Sizzix die.  I added a little bronze glitter to the edges.  The file tap is chip board that is part of this paper collection.

For the last card.  I really loved the flowers and they really remind me of the Day of the Dead.  Even though is still has that Stem-punk feel.  I used a stamp from the Sweet Stamp shop to make the sugar skull.  I glittered the eye scokets using the Tim Holtz glitter.   And I took some of the Autum glitter sheet of paper from Challenge #5 for the border behind the flowers and skull.

I popped the skull up using some pop dots.

I hope you can join us in this challenge.  And please stop in to see what the rest of the DT created.  You will not be disappointed.

PYC Challenge #5 - Fall

Parade Your Crafts Blog Challenge #5..............FALL

Wow!!!  I can't believe that we are are at Challenge #5 already.   Time is just flying right by.  I know some parts of the country is still warm but here in Northern California the weather has been perfect.  We are expecting mid 70's all week.  The trees are already turning colors and it is really starting to feel like fall.

In my package from The Paper Parade I receive the Autumn Harvest from Reminisce and a sheet of Autumn glitter paper.  This collection is full of deep fall colors.

When I saw the paper I instantly though about our first trip to Apple Hill which is a fall tradition for many if you live anywhere near the Sacramento valley.   So, as you can see I am very far behind on scrapping my photos.  Maybe one day I will catch up.

I choose two of the brown sheets.  The colors are different but I felt that they worked very well together to create a two page layout.  I used a total of 4 sheets of  paper to complete the layout.  I aslo used some of the coordinating stickers.  I love the tabs.  The leaves are cut using one of my older Sizzix dies.

With some of the scraps I created this card.  I really love the glitter sheet but I did not find a way to incorporate in to the layout.... but I found a spot of the card.

I hope you find some time in the next two weeks to enter a project in our challenge.

Thanks for stopping in.

Penny Black

Click here ------->  for the Parade Your Crafts Challenge #3 post.

Hope you enjoyed your holiday weekend.  I sure needed that extra day to get some big household projects done.  And it was nice to have an extra day to relax after completing those projects.   I did not get a lot of crafting done but I did make one cute little card.

Penny Black has been one of my favorite designers.  Her little critters are adorable.  But with that being said, I only own a couple of her stamps.  Mostly, because they don't sell the "cute" ones at the stamping store that is in my neighborhood.  That is how the owner responded my request.  Needless to say.... to don't shop that store often.

With my recent trip to Arizona, I stopped in to a wonderful stamping store in Scottsdale and picked up this stamp to add to my collection.   I used my new Tim Holtz Distress markers to color in the image.  I like to put some of the ink on a block and then use my water brush to color in the image.  It give a wonderful watercolor effect.  I have just started using these markers, so I have a lot to learn.    I found the sentiment in one of my Lawn Fawn stamp sets.  I wanted the image to be the focal point of the card and not have the sentiment take away from the image.

Thanks for visiting.

PYC Challenge #3 - Anything Goes

Welcome to the Parade Your Crafts Blog Challenge #3.

This is one of my favorite challenges "Anything Goes"

This is where you get to bust out your creativity and make a project that you have
been day dreaming about all day.

Lisa at the Paper Parade sent me this beautiful paper from Authentique.  The collection is Remembrance.  Sometimes when I get double sided paper I really love one side but not the other.
Not with this collection.  I really could not decide which side I loved the most.  The collection comes with on side of sentiments that are wonderful for the making "Thinking of You" or Condolence cards.
Lisa did provide me with one sheet that there was no way I would cut because it is too beautiful.
I think I will save it to make a memorial page of my Mother.

At first I thought about doing a layout.  I am a sucker for flowers and have many photograph of them.  After thinking about it, I decided to make a card.... that turned into two.

I used two different sheets of the paper.  The Remembrance Two and Three.   I stamped the bottle using a new stamp I scored at a great price.  The stamp is from hero arts.  I added a couple of flower and a button.

For the first card I used a little bit of the Platinum stickles give the flower a little sparkle.
I also rubbed some on the sentiment.

For the second card I used some of the scraps from the other side.
This way you cold see the beautiful papers in this collection.

The only paper I did not use from this collection is that small piece of black card stock that framed the sentiment with.  I found that I did not need anything else to complete my card.

Now it is your chance to show us your stuff.  Link up your project to the PYC Challenge # 3.
And be sure to stop in with the other DT to see the beautiful projects they have created.

I am just stopping in on a busy Thursday to share with you this birthday card I made for my Special needs Niece.  She will be turning 11 this year.  I though she would get a kick out of this image from the Greeting Farm.  I love her kitty hat and I think my Niece will too.

Birthday Bash

There seems to be many blogs celebrating their birthdays this month.  One of them is the Neat and Tangled blog.  They have been celebrating all month log with different challenges and guest designers.

I used one of their free Digi-image to make this CAS card with some scrap paper from my scrap box.

I thought there was too much empty space at the top so I added some sequins.

A cute little bean

Happy Hump Day!!

Every time I say that I think of that camel commercial where he is going through the office saying "who can tell me what day it is?"  or something like that.

It was a crazy Tuesday so it was nice to sit down and do some crafting.

While I was browsing the isles at Jo-Ann's I cam across this beautiful summer paper embossed with the sun.  And can you believe it.... it was only 10 cents.  Of course I picked up more that one piece.

I am starting to embrace the square card idea.  Square cards seem to have more room to fit extra embellishments.  Though on this card I didn't want to cover up that cool sun though.

Thanks for stopping by

Teresa
