Magazine Mondays, Week 96

Hello,

I hope everyone is having a great weekend.

Papercrafting Challenge: Magazine Mondays - Week 96 Inspiration Piece (image)

This week I decided to take part in the
 Magazine Monday's challenge #96
over at the Paper Crafter's Corner.

I was very inspired by the photo above.  I love the colors.
The greens and the oranges paired with the black.
I really had about 4 different ideas floating around in my head.

I went with the simple design of borders.

I tried a few different colors for the sentiment but they all seemed
washed out by the background paper.  So I landed on the basic black.

Thanks for stopping By.

Growing in Unity - Day 5

Happy Friday!!!

I am sad to say that today is the last day of my time with Unity.

It has been so much fun.

Thank You!!

To the Unity Stamp Company for having me this week.

and

To all who have left comments
I appreciate all of the wonderful and kind comments I have received.
please follow my blog
(not required to win the Unity prize)

A couple things......
Did you hop with Unity yesterday?   There is still time.

If you are looking for some new stamps, check out Unity's Sale this week

I leave you with three cards today.
All using the same stamp "Real Shared Happiness"

For all 3 card I used mixed media paper and my twinkling H2O's.

Have your tried the H2O's?  They are awesome.
Use them just like watercolor but the have a fabulous shimmer.

I tried a new technique.
I have seen online where you watercolor inside the embossing lines.
I thought this image would be a good candidate to try out the technique.

I made three attempts and I got three very different looks

For the first attempt....

I stamped the image and embossed it with clear embossing powder.
I wanted to let the white card stock show through.   I was trying to watercolor within the lines.
It was not working out too well.  So I painted the whole background and swirling around the color.  Then I tried to stay within the lines again and used a darker color.  Turned out pretty good.

Second attempt....

After I got all of the color inside the butterfly I realized
that it was not really popping with the white embossed outline.
So I added some green to try to get the outline to pop.
This one sort of reminds me of  me of painting... Like Monet.

Third attempt.......

And as they say.... Third time is a charm.

This time I choose to use silver embossing powder for the butterfly outline.
Everything about the outline just pops right off the paper.

The best tip I can give is to keep the area you are working with
wet so that you can allow the colors to flow/blend together.
But don't over do it with the water or you will have color go outside the lines.

This technique was easy enough.
I want to try again on some flower images.

I hope you found some inspiration this week

Well.....  Sadly this ends my week as a GIU girl.

But no worries....

Growing in Unity - Day 4

Hello crafty friends.

Today is day 4 of my Growing In Unity post.  Time just fly's right on by.

I hope you are enjoying my post and found some inspiration.

Today is Thursday that means there is a blog hop going on at the Unity blog.

Take some time and see what the Design team has to share this week.
I can say there are always wonderful projects.

For my projects today I choose two different unity stamp sets.

and

I love these two sets because of the silhouette images.

I can have large stack of patterned paper which never holds the pattern I want.
So I find myself making my own backgrounds.

For both cards I used my Gelatos on mixed media paper to make my background.

The mixed media paper is very tough.  I allows you to work with different mediums and water.

I colored the Gelato colors onto the paper and then used my finger to blend the colors around.
I then use a baby wipe the finish the blending.

For the Wish card,I stamped and embossed the dandelion in black.
The sentiment is stamped and embossed with a blue glitter embossing powered.
It is hard to see the sparkle in the picture.

For this card, I stamped the flowers in purple and used a purple metallic embossing powder.
The sentiment is stamped and embossed in black.
And look.... some patterned paper found a home...LOL

Growing in Unity - Day 3

Happy Wednesday!!

Today is day 3 of my Growing in Unity week.

My project today is an ATC (Artist Trading Card)

ATC's are small art cards that can be tradeded.  They are the size of a baseball card.  3-1/2" x 2-1/2".  They are usually numbered with the run.
Some artist make one of a kind or may make multiples of the same theme.

Some groups do a ATC swap.  I have participated in these types of swap.
This is where everyone makes cards of a theme.... like Christmas or Summer fun.
Then the cards are sent to one person and they return to you one of each card from each artist.
 It is a fun event.
But since postage has increased so much, may of these swaps have disappeared.

I made this ATC to enter into a the ATC contest at Rubber Stamp Show last weekend.  There were 12 wonderful entries.  Mine was not one of the top 3 winners.  Oh well.  There is always next year.

For the background and coloring of the balloon, I used some of my Silks Acrylic Glaze.
I love the paints and use them frequently.

I then stamp the image in the location I wanted on the card
and stamped a second to paint and cut out so pop off the paper.

I used some gold Ferro with a stencil to add some texture to the background
before I attached the balloon.

I used wire to make the balloon strings and attached them with a tiny drop of glossy accents.

I did not stamp the sentiment straight.  Ugh!! ( I do this way to frequently)

To fix my error, I cut the whole card down to straighten the sentiment.
At this point I made an identical background piece and framed the whole image with black.

This Unity image is one of my favorites.
It is called Adventurous

Remember to leave a comment on all of the post this week.

Two lucky people will win 25 random stamps from Unity.

Growing In Unity - Day 2

Good Morning.

Today is day 2 of my time with the Unity Stamp Company.

Today I am using a stamp that has never seen ink
It has been sitting in my stash for sometime.

I am not sure why I keep passing it up.  It is a very cool one.

The name it It Suits You

I wanted to make it a bright Summer card.  So I colored the image with yellow, red and orange.

I pared the image with this fun summer paper.  The paper is full of happy words.

I also wanted to layer the image so I stamped and colored two extra images.

I then fussy cut out the swim suit and the flower.
I used a gem in the center to give it a little bling.

That is it for me today.

Be sure to leave a comment.

At the end of the week I will be choosing two random comments

to receive a bag of 25 random stamps from Unity.

Growing In Unity - Day 1

Happy Monday!

I am excited to be doing the Growing in Unity this week.

Unity is an awesome stamp company.  I really love their images and the quality of stamps.

Please take a moment to visit them Here

My project today is inspired by the Tim's Tags of 2015 - April

I have been very inspired by Tim and vowed to try do keep up with him this year.
I've done all them all except January.

This month is one of my favorites because of the flowers.
I am really a sucker for flowers.

I used the Itty Bitty stamp Charming Cone Flowers for my focal flower.

I used distress markers to color the image.
I scribble some ink from the distress marker onto a acrylic bloc.
I then pick up the ink with a water brush and apply it to the image.

Sewed it onto the tag and used the braids to attach the sentiment.
Wow, it has been a while since I used brads....
I then distressed the edges.

The friend word is cut from black card stock and a sizzix die.

The sentiment I use frequently.   I just love the message.
It is from the Unity Itty Bitty set Enjoy this day
