That Fall Feeling

I am starting to feel like it should be fall soon.  My son starts back to school tomorrow,  preseason football is on the tube, I am starting to crave hearty foods and all of the craft companies are showing off there fall designs.  And I really am ready for some cool weather.

How about you?

Today I have a card to help bring in that fall feeling.  I received this new image from Serendipity stamps.  It is from their new fall & winter line.  It's call Pumpkins and Sunflowers.  I used one of my Fiskars punches to add a few butterflies.  You can't tell from the photo, but the wings are popped up a little to give them some dimension.   It is a wonderful image.

Thanks for stopping in.

I will be entering this card into the following challenges.

Serendipity Stamps Challenge - SSCB#17 Butterflies
The House that Stamps Built - DCC#814 - things with wings

Be Inspired

I am really starting to enjoy these challenges that give you photo to pull inspiration from.  You just never really know what the end result will be.

I made this card from the TAWS Be Inspired Challenge.

Seems easy enough.  I though... Somewhere around this house I have paper that matches that mug.  Well, after searching around, I guess I was imagining things again.  LOL     However, in my search I found Washi Tape that reminded me of this photo.

I used one of the free images from The Alley Way to make this card.

I am not really sure what this guy is, but I think (and the hubby agrees) it is a robot egg.  I think he is adorable.  I gave him some dimension by adding some layers to his band and beak.  I also gave him some googly eyes.

Square Cards

If you are looking for the Parade Your Crafts DT project, go HERE

Happy Saturday.  I have been busy creating some projects for some on going challenges and I wanted to share with you.

How you you feel about square cards.  I don't normally make cards in this shape because they are cost more to mail but I do like how they look.  I guess if you are going to include the card in a package then who cares about the mailing issue.

This card I made using my Craft's Meow stamps.   I added a chipboard Thank you sticker to the middle for the flower.  This card measures 4.5 x 4.5.  Why the half inch?  well it just fit the Spellbinders frame better.

While on my travels through the web I discovered a new challenge blog.  It is Runway Inspired Challenge.  This is where your inspiration comes from a runway photo.  Seems fun and I choose to participate.

Here is the inspiration photo.

Now I don't think I would be wearing this dress.  There is too much going on up top and I think the fabric looks like a chair my Grandmother owned.  But, the pattern can be inspiring.

Here is my card

This time I used my Spellbinders die to cut the card into the square.  I like the effect.
Maybe I  will be making more square cards in the future.

Thanks for checking in.

PYC Challenge #1 - Down By the Sea Theme

Good Morning, everyone.

This is an exciting day for the DT Krewes from Parade your Crafts Blog.
This is the blog for The Paper Parade.

Today is our first Challenge.
The theme is Down By the Sea.

There are some great prized up for grabs for those who participate.  And don't wait around, because there are going to be prized for entries #1, #5, #15 and #20.

My project is a layout.  I have not done a layout in some time and I have thousands of photos.

This is my Son having his first Oyster Shooter on our summer trip to Newport Oregon last year.  I don't know where he got his love for oysters but he just can't wait to have them.   I was not sure how he was going to react to the shooter so I took lots of photos of the whole event.  His only reaction was at the end, when he really tasted the cocktail sauce.  At the time I didn't know how hot it really was.  But,he said he would do it again and liked everything about the taste.

My background papers are from the Fresh collection from Authentique.   I used the Crisp and Light sheets.  The journaling card was made from the back side of the Light sheet.
I made the photo frames using my Polaroid Die from the Greeting farm
and the paper Farm House Paper - Sugar Hill.

I also used the Element and Detail stickers from the Fresh set for the title.  I loved that the sticker sheets came with different letter styles.  The photo's are framed using white card stock and Ranger Distress Ink - Weathered wood.  I used some Kraft card stock to frame the journal card and distressed it with Ranger Distress Inks - Barn Door.  I added the twine to give the layout some dimension.

Now take a couple of minutes to check out the other fabulous projects from the rest of  the DT Krewe.

I hope you can find some time to play with us this week.  I can't wait to see what you create.  And don't forget to stop in at The Paper Parade for all of your supplies.  New products being added all the time.

Catching Up

Wow!  I can't believe it is August already.  I have been so MIA.  So many things going on.  Went on my yearly family vacation for two weeks.  So I really only had two week to fulfill all of my July obligations both at work and crafting.  I am sure you can imagine how behind I have been.  And the to top it off, school starts in just under two week.  So this week I have been shopping for lots of new school items.

Monday is an exciting day.  The first challenge for the Parade Your Crafts starts.  Check back and see what the new DT has created.

I have spent today catching up with my commitment on the Fiskateers website.  I participate in a group called the Card Lift-a-teers.  Every week we take inspiration from a fellow Fikateer and make our own creation.   Here is one of the cards I made today.  I was inspired by Kristen 7249.  I just love her layout.

Kristen's card

I broke out my new Tuesday Premier stamp and used Kristen's layout to make a card for the challenge over at Splendid stamping.  The Greeting Farm is celebrating their 5th Birthday and the challenge is Gettin Wiggy With It.

Don't forget to check back Monday!!!

Vacation.......Challenges and chances to win!!!

Just stopping to say Hello to all of my followers and give some updates on what has been happening in my world.  Nothing bad.... it is all good.

I am going to start with the exciting news.......

I have been chosen for a design team for the Parade Your Crafts Blog.  I am sharing this honor with 7 other fabulous designers, one of which is my sister.

Parade Your Crafts is the blog for The Paper Parade.  Starting August 5th there is going to be challenges and prizes.  The first challenge will be full of surprises.  So mark your calendars.

OK.... So I made the promise of having a chance to win.....  Here is how.  Head on over to the Parade Your Crafts Blog and leave a comment on today's post.  But wait.... Come back tomorrow because there are going to be more prizes.  And while you are at it, become a follower.

And here is the reason I have been absent from my blog.......

Thunderbird Lodge, Lake Tahoe, Nevada

I just returned from two weeks of vacation with my family.  We started our trip over the 4th of July weekend at Lake Tahoe.  We have friends with a condo right on the water.  We hug out at the beach, did a little shopping and went on a tour of the Thunderbird Lodge. We then headed off to Arizona.  There we did some exploring, some R&R and of course dining in some wonderful restaurants.  We finished our trip with stop see Mickey and friends at Disneyland.  And then I finished the week by going back to work.

I think it has all caught up with me because I am very tired.  So, I am planning on getting a good nights rest and the start crafting tomorrow.

Thanks for stopping in.  I hope your are having a wonderful summer.
