Growing In Unity - Day 2

Good Morning.

Today is day 2 of my time with the Unity Stamp Company.

Today I am using a stamp that has never seen ink
It has been sitting in my stash for sometime.

I am not sure why I keep passing it up.  It is a very cool one.

The name it It Suits You

I wanted to make it a bright Summer card.  So I colored the image with yellow, red and orange.

I pared the image with this fun summer paper.  The paper is full of happy words.

I also wanted to layer the image so I stamped and colored two extra images.

I then fussy cut out the swim suit and the flower.
I used a gem in the center to give it a little bling.

That is it for me today.

Be sure to leave a comment.

At the end of the week I will be choosing two random comments

to receive a bag of 25 random stamps from Unity.

Comment daily because you don't know what day that winners will be chosen from

Growing In Unity - Day 1

Happy Monday!

I am excited to be doing the Growing in Unity this week.

Unity is an awesome stamp company.  I really love their images and the quality of stamps.

Please take a moment to visit them Here

My project today is inspired by the Tim's Tags of 2015 - April

I have been very inspired by Tim and vowed to try do keep up with him this year.
I've done all them all except January.

This month is one of my favorites because of the flowers.
I am really a sucker for flowers.

I used the Itty Bitty stamp Charming Cone Flowers for my focal flower.

I used distress markers to color the image.
I scribble some ink from the distress marker onto a acrylic bloc.
I then pick up the ink with a water brush and apply it to the image.

Sewed it onto the tag and used the braids to attach the sentiment.
Wow, it has been a while since I used brads....
I then distressed the edges.

The friend word is cut from black card stock and a sizzix die.

The sentiment I use frequently.   I just love the message.
It is from the Unity Itty Bitty set Enjoy this day

FiskaFriends 2015 Blog Hop

Happy Friday Friends.

Today we are celebrating a friendship of Crafters brought together by Fiskars.

This hop runs from Friday 3/27/15 to 3/29/15 11pm PDT.

All of the blogs on today's hop are former Fiskateers.
Even though the community is no longer, our friendship of 140+ has continued.

I want to thank Jean Bullock for keeping us all organized.
&
The 2015 FiskaFriends hop Sponsors who have been very generous.

How do I win a hop prize you ask?
All the rules are posted here: http://fiskafriends.blogspot.com/

My project for today's hop is in progress.

I spend a lot of time hanging out on Pinterest
and found idea for hanging jewelry or other items using old drawer pulls.

I found some antique looking pulls at Hobby Lobby on clearance some time ago a
and just stuck them in my stash.

I know you've been there.  That idea in progress forever.  LOL

Last weekend I was poking around Michaels and found these neat little wood pieces.
Then it was all about deciding which design I like.
Me, not being able to make a decision, bought one of each.
They were only a $1 each.

I sanded each of them and then decided I would group them in a collage.

I took photo to remember what I came up with.

Since I've been dabbling in Mixed media.
I wanted to go with that idea/theme.

Also, I had to consider the background wall color which is a deep purple.

So, as of today.  Here is where I am with the project.

You might notice that I changed the direction of the rectangular pieces.
That was sort of an accident.
After I created the white butterfly piece, I discovered my directional error.

The one in the top left is not done.
I think I will be dry brushing it with a purple color and then use a background stamp on it.
I also feel the purple oval needs a little something.

The drawer pulls will then be mounted in the center of the oval and square ones.
The rectangle ones will have the pull mounted towards the top.

I still need to cut the screws on the pulls as they are too long.
And of course make a decision of which pull to put on each piece.
Oh.... and to find two more drawer pulls.

I will be sure to share when I am done.
Maybe by the end of the weekend.

If you get lost head back to the FiskaFriends main page

And don't forget to comment.... More comments...
means more chances to win a prize from Flying Unicorn

Happy Spring

 Happy Spring!!!

Today I want to share with you card I made using up some of the scraps on my table.

All the elements except the flower were either left over paper
or die cuts that I  had rejected for other projects.

It is sort of a spring cleaning of my work area.

For the flower and the sentiment I used some of my lovely Hero Arts stamps.

Thanks for dropping by

I will be entering this card in the following challenges

Tim's Tags of 2015 - March

Hello Crafty friends.

Hope you all have enjoyed your weekend.  As always I wish weekends were longer.

This weekend I finished my March Tag for Tim's Tags of 2015

I really love his inspiration this month.  Beautiful spring colors.

marchtag

Tim started out creating a tissue collage.  I don't own any so I used stamps to create the collage effect.  I only inked the areas I wanted to stamp on the tag.

Tim also used distress paint to color his tag.  I choose to use my Sparkling H20's.
His background colors came out a little more deep, but I have that great shimmer.

Using the texture paste and embossing powder is an interesting technique.  I learned very quickly that you have to work very fast.  The texture paste drys quickly.

I had so much fun I made two.

Thanks for dropping by
